About the Position

Reporting to the Program Manager, Education and the Program Manager, Girls’ Initiatives, the Program Associate, for the Learning, Empowerment and Adolescent Development (LEAD) team will work as an integral part of an intimate, highly effective team to mobilize resources for the BRAC family, build awareness for BRAC’s work in North America and provide strategic program support in the areas of education, girls empowerment and adolescent development.

The Program Associate will engage in proposal development, project design, implementation and evaluation in Africa and Asia where BRAC operates education and girls empowerment programs, focusing on early childhood development, primary and secondary education, skills development and empowerment and livelihoods for adolescents.

The Program Associate may have the opportunity to travel periodically to monitor ongoing projects and to develop new programs in partner countries.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Write LOIs, proposals, grant agreements, and due diligence reports to support new and ongoing education and girls empowerment fundraising and projects;
  • Collaborate with in-country teams to design and implement new and ongoing education and girls empowerment programs in partner countries;
  • Engage partner NGOs, international organizations and funders to develop and implement education and girls empowerment projects in BRAC countries;
  • Support management of new and existing education and girls empowerment projects in BRAC countries;
  • Assist the monitoring and evaluation of ongoing education and girls empowerment projects;
  • Draft reports on education and girls empowerment issues and BRAC projects;
  • Prepare team members for meetings by conducting research, developing strategies, and arranging briefing packages; and
  • Support the assigned Program Managers with database management, including pipeline reports, grant stewardship, prospect research, and updating BRAC USA's contact management system;
  • Represent the organization at external meetings as requested;
  • Support the communications team to create presentations and marketing materials to showcase program successes; and,
  • Recruit and manage interns to support the LEAD team.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • 1-3 years of professional experience in international development; experience working in international education, youth development and/or girls’ empowerment preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree required, with preference given to international development, education, development economics, or related fields; Master’s degree preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proven interest in international development and nonprofit fundraising.
  • Demonstrated skills in prospect and pipeline research, business correspondence, reports, proposals, and blog posts.
  • Strong organizational ability and experience with databases/contact management systems such as Salesforce, Wealth Engine, and RelSci.
  • Highly skilled user of Google and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Friendly, flexible, confident, assertive and mature personality, with a great sense of humor.
  • Proactive and curious self-starter with demonstrated ability to learn quickly.
  • Creative and strategic thinker with strong capacity to execute.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a high functioning, intimate team
  • Professional demeanor and ability to interact successfully with a wide range of individuals and handle a fast-paced environment.
  • Diplomatic and highly effective on an interpersonal level in addition to cross-cultural sensitivity, knowledge, and understanding.
  • Ability to travel periodically to BRAC countries as needed; and
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
